The HSA Kaua‘i Grom Series has been the launchpad for Kaua‘i’s young surfers for over 40 years, providing a competitive platform at the island’s premier breaks. More than just a contest, this series is a proving ground where groms sharpen their skills, gain contest experience, and take their surfing to the next level.

Many of Kaua‘i’s world-class surfers got their start in this series, including Andy and Bruce Irons, Bethany Hamilton, Tatiana Weston-Webb, Malia Manuel, Sebastian Zietz, and Gabriela Bryan. Today’s competitors follow in their footsteps, with the opportunity to qualify for the HSA State Championships on O‘ahu and earn a spot at Nationals in Southern California—a pathway that has shaped some of Hawai‘i’s most accomplished surfers.
